Isuzu and Accelera by Cummins sign agreement to supply integrated battery electric powertrain for medium-duty BEV trucks - Creating local supply chain for parts in the North American market -

Isuzu Motors Limited (headquartered in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan; Shinsuke Minami, President & COO; hereinafter "Isuzu") has signed an agreement with Accelera™ by Cummins* the zero-emissions business segment of Cummins Inc. (headquartered in Indiana, U.S.; Jennifer Rumsey, Chair and CEO of Cummins; hereinafter "Cummins") to procure integrated battery electric powertrain for the medium-duty battery electric vehicle (BEV) "F-Series", which is set to launch in the North American market in 2027.

In May 2019, Isuzu and Cummins entered into a comprehensive partnership for the powertrain business, the Isuzu Cummins Powertrain Partnership (hereinafter "ICPP"), and began collaborating on the development of next-generation powertrains. With regard to BEVs, based on the ICPP, testing of a medium-duty prototype truck has been conducted in North America since 2022 in preparation for its market introduction.

Additionally, in February of this year, Isuzu announced plans to establish a new production facility in South Carolina, aimed at strengthening its vehicle supply system in anticipation of the medium- to long-term electrification of commercial vehicles in North America. In the future, the same site will also produce F-Series BEV models using the powertrain supplied by Accelera. The company plans to promote the establishment of a locally sourced supply chain for each component necessary for electrification, with the aim of creating a more efficient production system.

Isuzu will continue to develop competitive technologies and deliver products through collaboration with innovative partners, further accelerating its business in North America, and striving to realize its purpose of "Moving the World – for You."
